The variety belongs to commercially grown chrysanthemums. In scientific literature, it is mentioned in the context of research on the pathogen Puccinia horiana, which causes chrysanthemum white rust.

This variety should not be confused with the widely available retail market varieties of the "Cherry" or "Branhill" series, nor with varieties of the multiflora group, such as "Cherry Purple" or "Meridian Cherry Purple", which have different characteristics and intended use.
