The variety belongs to the spray chrysanthemum group and is used as a commercial cut flower crop. In scientific literature, it is more often mentioned not as a variety with established authorship, but as source material for breeding work.

The plant is a popular subject for experiments on mutation induction, in particular using gamma radiation. As an example of the variety's use in breeding, the development of the Him Aditya variety by crossing Yellow Puma and White Star is cited.
