The plant is a compact shrub with a dense cushion-shaped crown. The leaves are dark green, wrinkled, and have a wide creamy-yellow or bright yellow margin along the edges. A mature plant reaches a height of about 75 cm and a width of up to 120 cm, although under certain conditions the dimensions can be 30–45 cm.
The flowers are large, saucer-shaped, white with yellow stamens; the flowering period begins in early summer. The variety is distinguished by vigorous growth and resistance to drought, heat, wind, poor soils, and deer damage. The plant requires a sunny location and well-drained soil without water stagnation; it is used in rock gardens, borders, and container plantings.
