The variety was bred in Bulgaria at the Maritsa Vegetable Crops Research Institute in Plovdiv. It is the result of crossing the varieties Mramornyi 17 (Marble 17) and Crimson Sweet.

The plant possesses pronounced resistance to anthracnose (Colletotrichum lagenarium). In scientific publications, the variety is mentioned as part of the genetic resources preserved for breeding programs.
