The «Eden» variety is first mentioned in the late 19th century as a component of breeding programs. It was used in crosses with wild watermelon forms, in particular, to create the «Conqueror» variety, described in 1892.

The plant does not possess high-quality fruit traits suitable for commercial cultivation. It served as a genetic source of disease resistance in the breeding of new varieties.

Modern commercial varieties under the name «Eden» from the Harris Moran company are not recorded in scientific publications and agronomic databases. The name may be mistakenly associated with the Russian hybrid «Эдем F1».
