Watermelon Emperor is a diploid hybrid with a maturity period of approximately 84 days to technical ripeness. Oval fruits reach a weight of 9 to 11 kg. Externally, the variety is characterized by a light green rind with dark stripes and a relatively thin rind with a thickness of 7–8 mm.

There is a possibility of confusion between this variety and other hybrids or varieties bearing similar names, in particular the yellow-fruited variety «Желтый Император» common in the Russian Federation, which has a lower fruit weight (2–5 kg) and different maturity periods. The American hybrid Emperor is described primarily in North American agronomic studies.
