The Alqueva (F1) variety belongs to the Portuguese white melon type Branco do Ribatejo. The hybrid was developed to ensure high yield and improved characteristics compared to traditional local varieties.

The fruits have an elongated elliptical shape. The flesh is white-cream in color and is characterized by a crisp and sweet consistency. The plant has good fruit set and is intended for open field cultivation during the winter-spring period.
