The El Rey F1 hybrid belongs to the oriental type of melon with a long shelf life. The plant possesses an energetic vine growth habit. The variety is intended for cultivation in protected ground conditions, including greenhouses and plastic tunnels.
The fruits have an oval shape and an average weight of 1.5–1.7 kg. The flesh is colored a deep salmon, characterized by high density, aroma, and a sugar content of up to 14° Brix. Due to its quality characteristics, the fruits are suitable for long-term storage and transportation.
The hybrid possesses resistance to Fusarium wilt (Fom 0-2) and powdery mildew (PM).
