The variety has a long history, was practically lost in the mid-20th century, and was restored thanks to samples from a gene bank. Plants of this variety are sensitive to frost and are suitable for cultivation in cold frames, greenhouses, and protected areas in the open field with preliminary seedling production.
The fruits have a plump shape and reach a length of 10–20 cm. The color changes from light lime in young fruits to white at full maturity. The flesh is dense and crunchy with a small seed chamber; the taste is characterized as nutty in young specimens and melon-like in mature ones.
