Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety has been known since the end of the 19th century and is adapted for cultivation in the Berlin and Brandenburg regions. The plant is characterized by universal use, while the fruits possess a firm structure, which makes them suitable for preparing salt-cured cucumbers (Senfgurken), but less suitable for classic pickling. During the growing season, the variety shows susceptibility to powdery mildew.

Cultivation is recommended to be started from seedlings in April with subsequent transplanting into the soil after mid-May, following a planting pattern of 80 by 35 centimeters. The crop prefers sunny areas protected from wind and requires good soil drainage, as it does not tolerate waterlogging. Harvesting usually begins from the end of June.
