The variety was bred based on Russian varieties 'Muromskiy', 'Borovskiy', and 'Kulenkampa'. The main distinctive feature is the plant's ability to form fruits in bunches, which is reflected in the variety name.

At the end of the 20th century, the variety lost its typical varietal traits and became a heterogeneous population, after which, in the 1990s, restoration and homogenization work was carried out at the Pūre Horticultural Research Station using family selection and inbreeding. As a result of this breeding work, the proportion of plants with the trait of fruit formation in clusters was significantly increased.

The variety is included in the Latvian national list of varieties as a traditional one. Since it is an old population, its characteristics may vary depending on the conformity of the seed material to the restored reference type.
