Esben F1 is an early cucumber hybrid with a balanced growth type. The plant is of the open type with short or medium internodes, which simplifies maintenance and harvesting. The variety is intended for cultivation in protected soil, including plastic and glass greenhouses, within short and medium cycles.

The fruits belong to the long-fruited cucumber segment, have a cylindrical shape, dark green color and a slightly ribbed surface, reaching 29–34 cm in length. They are characterized by high marketability, uniformity and good keeping quality.

The hybrid possesses high resistance to Cladosporium cucumerinum and powdery mildew, as well as intermediate resistance to Cucumber green mottle mosaic virus, Cucumber vein yellowing virus, Cucurbit yellow stunting disorder virus and Corynespora cassiicola. The variety is capable of good fruit set at elevated temperatures.
