Vorgebirgstrauben is a variety, not an F1 hybrid, with an early maturity period of 40 to 45 days. The plant is characterized by a compact bush growth habit and high productivity with regular harvesting.
The fruits have an elongated-cylindrical shape 7–9 cm long, a dark green color, and a densely tuberculate surface with black spines. The flesh is firm and crunchy, and the seed cavity is small. The variety is insect-pollinated and possesses good resistance to open field conditions.
The fruits retain their shape well during processing, making the variety ideal for pickling and canning, although it is also suitable for fresh consumption. The crop is traditionally grown in open fields both with supports and as a trailing plant. As this is an open-pollinated variety, seeds can be collected for future planting.
