"Potimarron" is a group of Cucurbita maxima varieties that includes representatives such as "Uchiki Kuri", "Akaguri", and "Red Kuri". Fruits of this group are characterized by portion-sized weights from 1 to 3 kg, pear-shaped, top-shaped, or turban-shaped forms, and bright orange, pink, bronze, or green skin color.
The plants have a vegetation period of 75 to 130 days and can be either vining or semi-vining. The dense yellow flesh has a dry, floury consistency. The crop is light-loving and sensitive to excessive moisture and cold, but overall, it is characterized by good fruit keeping quality.
Varieties of this group are for culinary use and are widely applied in cooking for preparing cream soups, baking, desserts, and baby food.
