The Marina variety, also known as Marina di Chioggia or of the Vasca-Mallorca type, is a representative of the Cucurbita maxima species. The plant possesses vigorous growth and strong development potential.

The vegetation period is 120–140 days. The fruits have a wrinkled warty rind of a grey or blue-green shade; their weight can reach 10–12 kg, although data on lower weights also exist. The fruit flesh is sweet and yellow-orange in color.

The variety requires cultivation on fertile soils while maintaining a constant moisture level. The fruits are suitable for universal culinary use, including the preparation of soups, purées, desserts, and candied fruits.
