The plant is a local population distinguished by its ability to grow on low-fertility soils, where Lolium perenne performs worse. Unlike the original species, which is perennial, this variety is classified as an annual plant in regulatory documents.
The plant forms turf and has narrow leaves. Depending on grazing intensity, it can take either a low-growing prostrate form or develop into a large-leaved form. The crop is valued for its good compatibility with Trifolium repens and its use in pasture seed mixtures.
