Variety description

The variety is an evergreen or semi-evergreen shrub with a compact, bushy habit. The leaves are leathery, glossy, dark green, and elliptic or obovate in shape. Tubular four-petaled flowers are gathered in dense rounded inflorescences; buds are purple-pink, open flowers are light purple, lilac-mauve or light violet. The plant possesses a strong sweet jasmine fragrance.
The plant reaches 1–1.2 meters in height and width in 10–20 years. Flowering occurs in late winter and early spring. The variety tolerates frosts down to -10°C...-15°C. The shrub prefers well-drained fertile soils ranging from neutral to slightly acidic, tolerates stagnant moisture and excess lime poorly, and is sensitive to root system disturbance during transplantation.
The plant is used as a specimen, in group plantings, for border design, or for container cultivation. All parts of the plant are toxic if ingested, and the sap can cause skin irritation.
