In international and national registers, Arany and Rotherz are grouped together as Chantenay varieties. In Hungary, these names were historically used to designate seed material of this type, maintained by the ZKI breeding center.

Chantenay type root vegetables are characterized by a semi-long shape, a thickened cone-like silhouette with a blunt tip. This variety type is distinguished by high yield and suitability for long-term storage. All agronomic characteristics of these names correspond to the general parameters of the Chantenay group.
