The variety belongs to the Nantes type and forms cylindrical roots 18–20 cm long. The vegetation period is 100–110 days, which classifies the variety as mid-early maturity group.

Crona is an open-pollinated variety suitable for the fresh market, bunching, packaging, and processing. During cultivation, a tendency towards lodging and root brittleness was noted; susceptibility to greening of the crown is possible. The variety is often used in scientific research as a model sample.
