The name First Pull does not denote a unique breeding variety, but is equated to the group of Amsterdam-type varieties (Amsterdammer, Amsterdamse Bak). It is characterized as a general name for early-maturing carrots aimed at obtaining bunching production.
Root crops of this type have a cylindrical shape with a blunt end, are characterized by a small or medium size and tender flesh intended for fresh consumption. In English-language sources, the term can also be used as a description of the process of harvesting or thinning carrots.
