The variety is a pot carnation. The plant possesses a naturally dwarf form; the height of the stems in protected cultivation reaches approximately 13 cm. It is characterized by the presence of shortened internodes and dense foliage. It is intended exclusively for cultivation in pots.
In horticulture, there is confusion with the names, as perennial ground-cover forms of Dianthus gratianopolitanus, which are a different species with glaucous foliage and fragrant flowers, are also often sold under the name «Annette».
