In the genus Dianthus, there is an interspecific series called "Fandango", including the variety Fandango Crimson. These plants are intended for container cultivation and are characterized by the presence of semi-double flowers with a stem height of 16 to 18 inches (approximately 40–45 cm).
At the same time, information regarding the registration of a Dianthus caryophyllus variety under the name "Fandango" specifically from the company Anjerveredelingsbedrijf West-Select B.V. is not confirmed. In other sources, the name "Fandango" is also used for varieties of Echinacea, chrysanthemums, begonias, Cosmos, and a commercial fungicide.
