The Hamdide variety is the result of breeding work by Keith Hammett aimed at obtaining compact plants with a characteristic glaucous habit and the ability to rebloom. The plant possesses traits inherent to the species Dianthus plumarius, including narrow leaves with a bloom and fragrant flowers with fringed petal edges.

The variety is intended for the decorative landscaping of garden plots; specifically, it is suitable for creating borders, growing in flower beds, including in arid conditions, as well as in containers.
