The shrub is characterized by a regular structure and sturdy shoots, reaching a width of 1.5–2 m. The leaves are elliptical in shape, fresh green in color, turning bright scarlet, carmine-red, and orange shades in autumn.
During the flowering period from May to June, the plant forms pendulous clusters of small bell-shaped flowers 1–1.5 cm long. The flower color varies from creamy white to pale pink with pronounced dark veining.
The plant prefers partial shade areas and acidic soils, requiring minimal maintenance and pruning. It is used in landscape design as a solitary plant or in compositions with rhododendrons, Pieris, and ferns.
