The Blue Diamond variety is a compact dwarf form of Eryngium planum. The plant reaches a height of about 40–45 cm, which is significantly less than the indicators of taller varieties of this species.

The name Kok-bas is not classified as a variety in publications. It is an English or common designation for the entire species Eryngium planum L.
