The ST 51 clone is used in fundamental biological experiments to study the physiological and biochemical responses of the plant to stress conditions, such as water deficit and low temperatures. It is not intended for industrial forestry or agriculture.
During laboratory research, this clone exhibits a significant decrease in growth rates, a reduction in leaf blade area, and a change in the hydraulic properties of tissues under water deficit compared to drought-tolerant specimens.
