The Ria variety was used in commercial poinsettia production. During agronomic experiments in the UK, this variety was compared with other commercial samples to evaluate the influence of 'cool' and 'warm' growing conditions on plant characteristics.
Studies showed that when cultivated under reduced temperatures, the Ria variety reached commercial quality comparable to control samples, provided an earlier planting date was used. Detailed morphological descriptions, information on height, disease resistance, or breeding origin are absent from the publications.
