The plant forms an upright, dense bush reaching approximately 60 cm in height and width. The leaves are narrow, lanceolate, leathery, and dark blue-green in color, acquiring a burgundy hue during the autumn-winter period.

Flowering occurs in late spring to early summer. The flowers are bright yellow-green with a reddish center and are gathered in inflorescences; additional red bracts form in winter.

The variety is relatively low-maintenance, possessing resistance to drought after establishment and damage by deer. Cold hardiness corresponds to USDA zones 6a–8a, which implies withstanding temperatures down to -15 °C.
