The plant is a herbaceous perennial 7 to 15 cm in height, capable of spreading 30–45 cm in width. The variety is valued for the expressive contrasting color of its leaf blades and is used as an ornamental foliage houseplant.

Due to its compact size and high moisture requirements, the variety is suitable for growing in florariums and terrariums, as well as a ground cover crop. The plant is sensitive to direct sunlight and fluctuations in humidity.
