The variety is the result of crossing woodland strawberry with the Rügen variety (Fragaria vesca var. semperflorens). The plant belongs to the bush (alpine) strawberry type and does not form runners.

The berries of the variety are small and possess the taste and aroma characteristic of woodland strawberries. The plant is noted for its winter hardiness and ability to overwinter well under snow cover in the climatic conditions of Finland.
