The variety Rumba is a product of pineapple strawberry breeding. There is no evidence of its belonging to the hybrid genus Fragaria x Potentilla, and its classification in catalogs as such a hybrid is erroneous.
The name Rumba is applied to various plant species, including ornamental shrubs such as weigela (Weigela florida 'Rumba') and azalea hybrids (Azalea hybrids 'Rumba').
