The Amiga variety was obtained in 1998 as a result of crossing the varieties Camarosa and breeding accession 3-79. During the testing stage, the hybrid was designated under the breeding number 2-269, which is not an independent variety name.

The plant belongs to the short-day group and is intended for commercial cultivation. The fruits of the variety are characterized by high firmness, which ensures their suitability for long-distance transport, and they also have an elongated shape.
