The plant belongs to high-dormancy varieties: to exit the dormant state and begin active growth, the variety requires the accumulation of about 700 hours at temperatures below 5°C. Physiological studies of the variety included the examination of the photoperiod response, as well as the patterns of leaf petiole elongation and internode development.
Under California conditions, the variety was characterized by insufficient productivity compared to the Shasta variety, which led to a decline in its popularity. Due to its pronounced taste properties, the variety was used as a parent form for breeding new hybrids.
