EM 227 is a breeding number obtained as a result of fruit crop trials in the early 1990s in the UK. The specimen is characterized as early-maturing.
The fruits have a conical, pointed shape with prominent seeds. The texture of the flesh and skin is soft, described as spongy. Taste qualities were evaluated as weak and neutral, and the yield of the specimen was lower than that of the reference variety Elsanta.
The specimen was not introduced into production and did not gain wide distribution as a commercial variety.
