The Grenada variety belongs to the June-bearing group of varieties. Plants of this variety are larger in size compared to the Ventana and Benicia varieties. In terms of fruiting pattern, the variety is similar to Camarosa, but exceeds it in productivity, berry quality, and ripening times.
The variety was obtained by crossing breeding lines Cal 4.41-6 and Cal 5.109-2. It was developed for commercial cultivation and is adapted to the climatic conditions characteristic of California.
