The RUBEA variety was bred within the framework of Italian state breeding programs. It is a dessert variety intended for cultivation in the conditions of southern regions.
During agrotechnical trials, including when grown via hydroponics, the variety demonstrated yields lower than those of a number of other commercial hybrids. The variety should be distinguished from ornamental varieties with pink-red flowers, often designated as Rubra or Red Ruby.
