Temple plants are characterized as vigorous, producing a large number of runners. The berries are comparable in size and quality to the Sparkle variety, but have a lighter color.
The main feature and key merit of the variety is its resistance to red stele root rot, caused by the fungus Phytophthora fragariae. This was the first strawberry variety created with targeted breeding against this disease.
