The Valentine variety is a parent form for the development of new strawberry varieties, including Veestar and Karina. In agronomic literature, it is considered more as important genetic material for breeding rather than a variety for commercial cultivation.
The plant belongs to the early flowering group. The variety is susceptible to infection by the nematode Pratylenchus penetrans. The fruits are characterized by a more acidic taste compared to modern large-fruited varieties.
To date, the variety is considered obsolete and is practically not found in commercial circulation, being preserved primarily in scientific genetic resource collections.
