Variety description

The plant belongs to the Ashiro variety series and is characterized by a compact, sometimes ground-covering growth habit, reaching a height of 20–30 cm. The flowers have an intense indigo shade and a tubular-bell shape.
Flowering of the variety continues from mid-summer to October. The plant is winter-hardy, withstands frosts down to -29°C (USDA zone 5), and prefers moist, well-drained soils with a slightly acidic reaction. It is used for landscaping, as a container plant, and for cut flowers.
The question of species classification remains a subject of debate: the variety is classified as Gentiana triflora, however, a number of specialists consider it a hybrid form resulting from the crossing of various gentian species.
