The variety Baika was created by the method of intervarietal hybridization followed by repeated individual selection. The plants have a semi-compressed habit and belong to the macrocarpa variety. The variety exhibits high symbiotic activity, forming nodules on the roots, and possesses resistance to diseases and pests.

The potential yield of the variety is 3.5–4.5 t/ha. The crop is recommended for cultivation primarily in the Steppe zone of Ukraine.
