The variety belongs to the mid-season type and is classified as maturity group I. In the conditions of the Almaty region of Kazakhstan, the growing season lasts 120–125 days.

Dekabig is a conventional variety and is not a GMO. In scientific practice and breeding, it is often used as a control sample in comparative trials due to its stable yield and grain quality indicators. The variety served as source material for the development of other soybean varieties, in particular, the Zhansaya variety.
