The variety Elvir is used in physiological and biochemical experiments. In particular, it is used to study the composition of polyphenols and isoflavones in various plant parts, as well as to investigate the physiological responses of soybean to iron deficiency.

This variety also serves as an object for analyzing the mechanisms of symbiosis with soil bacteria Bradyrhizobium japonicum in laboratory and field conditions.
