The OAC Erin (Erin) variety was developed in the province of Ontario (Canada) as part of the Ontario Agricultural College breeding programs. It belongs to traditional varieties that are not genetically modified lines.

The plant has a yellow seed hilum. The variety is characterized as being adapted for temperate climates and northern regions, exhibiting resistance to Phytophthora root rot pathogens.
