The variety belongs to maturity group I and is similar in maturity to the Alpha variety. Plants have white flowers, gray pubescence, and a height approximately 7.6 cm less than that of the Alpha variety. Seeds are characterized by light hila and lower weight compared to the Alpha variety.

The plants contain the Rps1 gene, which provides resistance to Phytophthora root rot, and the source of resistance to cyst nematode PI 209332. Compared to the Alpha variety, Faribault seeds contain approximately 2.1% less protein and 2.1% more oil.
