The Gaj variety was bred by crossing the Swedish variety Fiskeby V and a Glycine soja line. In studies conducted under Polish agro-climatic conditions, the average plant height was about 49 cm. The genetic factor significantly influences morphological traits, however, parameters may vary depending on sowing density and seasonal weather conditions.

In comparative field trials, the seed yield of the variety did not have significant differences compared to the Augusta and Nawiko varieties. The variety was included in the COBORU national register of varieties.
