The variety is an evergreen shrub reaching an average of 3 meters in height. The plant possesses leathery bright green or apple-green leaves and differs from the main species by having smaller leaves, as well as a dark color of the stems and petioles.
This cultivar is characterized by a moderate growth rate of about 30 cm per year and has been selectively bred to be bushier, which gives it density suitable for forming hedges. The plant has good disease resistance and tolerates exposure to sea salt spray with winter hardiness down to -10 °C.
