The plant forms dense mounds of narrow drooping leaves. The height of the bush is from 25 to 45 cm with a width of up to 60 cm. In late summer or early autumn, greenish-yellow or brownish panicle inflorescences appear.
The variety belongs to warm-season grasses and requires warmed soil for active development. The plant is winter-hardy in USDA zones 5–9, prefers partial shade or shady sites with moist, humus-rich soils. It possesses resistance to Verticillium wilt.
