The line was obtained by the embryo culture method by exposing immature zygotic embryos of the parental restorer line R 2574 to gamma radiation. A cesium-137 isotope was used as the radiation source at a dose of 8 Gy for 1 minute.
This line is specialized genetic material developed to increase the yield and oil content of hybrids. Hybrids created using this line possess resistance to broomrape (Orobanche cumana) race F and full resistance to downy mildew (Plasmopara helianthi) races 300 and 700.
