The 9999 R line is used in breeding programs to study mechanisms of resistance to abiotic stresses, in particular drought. It is a parental component, not a variety for commercial sowing.
In scientific research, the line was analyzed for indicators of response to water stress, root system characteristics, and morphological parameters, such as head diameter. The letter R in the name may indicate that it belongs to a fertility restorer line.
