The Ukrainian hybrids Азимут and Азимут Экспресс are early-maturing high-oil hybrids with a growing season of 104–109 days. The plants reach a height of 170–180 cm with a head diameter of 18–21 cm and a thousand kernel weight of 65–70 g. The oil content is 49–51%. The hybrids possess high resistance to the herbicide tribenuron-methyl.
The Kazakhstani variety Азимут was developed by the method of individual selection from the variety Посейдон 625. It is an early-maturing variety with a plant height of about 102 cm. The head is slightly convex, inclined, with a diameter of up to 30 cm; the seeds are black and medium-hulled. The average yield is 29.8 c/ha with a potential of up to 40.5 c/ha.
In Belarus, the variety Азимут is mentioned as a hybrid created at the Institute of Genetics and Cytology; however, detailed morphological characteristics of this product in public sources are limited.
